This is an awesome picture. And the title's funny because it's true! Maiev based her existence entirely on Keeping Illidan in a cell. Without him to guard or chase anymore, she hits a brick wall and loses any sense of purpose her life has, because she abandoned everything she ever cared about to guard a guy she considered dangerous, sealing herself in a vault with him and a number of other guards. Yeah, she was definitely insane LONG before Illidan went power-mad.
Granted he became EXTREMELY dangerous, but that's only because he was betrayed by Malfurion. He was ready to become a permanent fixture of the night elves' guard, but no, Tyrande and Malfurion have to say, "you gave up your night elf body? Have you no pride? Get out of our sight, you soulless monster." That was the gist of it, and of course, there was the money shot: "You are no brother of mine." Not the gist this time; direct quote. That's a low blow. That's why I don't like night elves: They've all got obscenely severe cases of egomania.
So, instead of gaining a great ally at the expense of a bit of pride, they choose to make a horrific enemy. And that's where Maiev comes into the picture.
Most art doesn't give me an emotional response, but this does. The title is just so fitting; like he's trying to explain it to her as the world falls apart around them. I feel like I could look at it forever.
